Uninstall / Reinstall PunkBuster

Punkbuster apparently works by first installing a master application (that's what I call it), and then separate punkbuster 'clients' for each game that uses it.

To test and fix the master app download this.

Once it's downloaded, simply run it, and you can either test your current install of PunkBuster, re-install, or un-install it.

This can ensure that both PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe are both installed and working correctly! Most newer games require this!

Updating Punkbuster for Specific Games

Even though Punkbuster is supposed to update itself automatically, I prefer to manually do it to ensure it's the latest version, and that it's working.

This utility updates punkbuster for each application you select, so you can be sure all your games have the latest version.

Kill Punkbuster

If the LAN game you are joining isn't going to use PunkBuster, there is no point in leaving it running. It's just one more application that can interfere with a successful LAN. To turn it off, simply:

• Push CTRL+ALT+DEL
• Click on the "Processes" tab at the top
• Sort the processes by name by clicking on "Image Name"
• Look for PnkBstrA.exe and/or PnkBsterB.exe. You may not see both services. But whichever one you see, right-click on it and select 'End Process'.
